In February next year, the world's leaders will gather to discuss how traffic fatalities - one of the planet's health epidemics – can be decreased.

Sweden is to host the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety on 19–20 February 2020 at Waterfront Congress Centre in Stockholm. The conference will be co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), and minister-led delegations from more than 80 countries are expected to attend. Representatives from the industry and research, international institutions and other global organizations will also participate. The conference marks the end of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011–2020 and the starting point for continued collaboration on road safety. The aim is to reach global consensus on guidelines for continued international collaboration on road safety up to 2030.

Knowledge about successful collaboration
SAFER has been awarded the honorary task of arranging two agenda items in the official program. First, a program in Gothenburg will be arranged on February 17th.The participants will take part in a full-day experience in Gothenburg, West Sweden’s home town of the automotive industry. The aim is to communicate and create a deeper understanding about the key mechanisms behind how to improve traffic safety through SAFER’s successful collaboration model between society, industry, academia and research organisations.

Participants will experience a number of concrete cost-effective measures for increased traffic safety during the day. Demonstrations are combined with opportunities for dialogue and interaction with traffic safety experts within SAFER’s network, sharing experiences, technical in-sights and evidences of track record in implementation. 
Also, a shorter evening event in Stockholm will be arranged on February 18th. The participants will receive a summary on effective traffic safety measures, based on collaboration and how we work together to reach the zero vision. A summary about the way forward in research and needs for changes in e.g. the regulation system will also be provided.
