With automated transports, also the definition/combining of different vehicle units e.g. truck, dolly, trailer link into a vehicle combination will be automated. The project Complete Combination Vehicle Control with automated reconfiguration (C2VC) aims to solve the problem of how to automatically reconfigure the vehicle motion functionality control software as the vehicle combination is adapted for a specific transport mission. Vehicle dynamics focus (e.g. handling control of complex vehicle configurations) is connected to safety, hence this is an important research to make autonomous combination vehicles safe.
