Understanding how and why crashes occur is essential for developing effective road safety measures and evaluating the impact of new vehicle technologies. In this seminar, Magdalena Lindman from If P&C Insurance will share perspectives from her work with traffic safety data analysis and safety evaluation.

Drawing on extensive experience from both Volvo Cars Safety Centre and the insurance sector, Magdalena will discuss how real-world crash data can be used to identify safety challenges, understand injury risks, and assess the effectiveness of vehicle safety systems. Particular attention will be given to vulnerable road users and the evaluation of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), two areas of growing importance as vehicles become increasingly equipped with active safety technologies.

The seminar will provide insights into how data from crashes and insurance claims can contribute to evidence-based road safety improvements and support the development of safer transport systems for all road users.

Practical Information

SAFER Thursday lunch seminars are held both at the SAFER office, Lindholmen Innovation District, building Kuggen, Lindholmsplatsen 1 or online (Teams).

• In-person attendance: Lunch will be provided at the SAFER office, starting at 11:30 AM. The seminar will then be held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM. Registration is required for lunch. Please register for lunch by 12:00 PM on the Tuesday before the seminar.
• Online attendance: No registration is needed. Simply join via the Microsoft Teams link sent to all SAFER partners ahead of the event. The seminar is held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM.
