A record number of participants at the conference Children, Life and traffic

Mar, 08 2017

Yesterday's conference Children, Life and Traffic safety gave participants lots of useful information about how the child's everyday environment in traffic can be made safer.

Minster of Infrastructure Anna Johansson gave the opening speech and conveyed the message that unprotected road users as well as children's reduced cycle use is high on the government's agenda as well as Vision Zero start. The participants also learned more about how our neighboring countries Denmark and Norway successfully included bicycle knowledge in the curriculum. Several speakers highlighted the problem that parents transport their children by car to school to a much greater extent than before. It was also pleasing to hear that Sweden continues to the world's best road safety and that the child's perspective, e.g. in such as new building of urban environments, is a natural part of the country. The conference, which was organized together with NTF Väst, had over 220 guests, which was a new record. SAFER was represented by experts from the research lab Revere and gave presentations on how self-driving cars can help solve the puzzle of life, trends in traffic safety research and the latest road accident statistics.
