HBM SHOULDER
Full title: Advanced Tool for the Development and Evaluation of Protection Systems for Bicyclists.
The project purpose is to improve methods for evaluation and development of protection for cyclists and other road users exposed to blows to the shoulder.
It includes further development of the SAFER HBM human model into a biofidelic tool which can be used in the development of various protective systems that make cycling safer for everyone.
The human model including the shoulder will be made scalable (morphable), which enables the evaluation of injury risk for road users of different sexes, sizes and ages (limited to adults, 12 years and older).
The project will generate data showing where SAFER HBMs may be used in the development of bicycle protection through physical crash tests.
A PhD student will be hired for the project (funding up to their licentiate degree).
