Child car occupant fatalities in Sweden 1992-2024
On 28 May, Lotta Jakobsson and Katarina Bohman from Volvo Cars will present a study examining child car occupant fatalities in Sweden from 1992 to 2024. The session will highlight long-term trends and patterns in fatal crashes involving child occupants, providing insight into how risks and circumstances may have evolved over more than three decades.
Building on the findings, the presentation will discuss what the data suggests for child restraint use, vehicle safety development, and future priorities for protecting children in passenger vehicles. The talk will also reflect on key lessons for stakeholders across industry, research, and policy, and invite dialogue on how Sweden can continue to strengthen child occupant safety going forward.
