Future Mobility: Technology, AI, People and Purpose

We are happy to welcome Jonas Hellgren, Joshua Bronson and Victor Fabricius from RISE. This seminar is hosted by Anna Larsson from RISE and part of SAFER Steering group. 

At RISE research leads us from idea, to innovation, onto the market by strengthening competitiveness for businesses, society and Sweden. We are presenting our current research in the area of future mobility with a strong focus on technology and people (users and society). One example is the AI technique reinforcement learning (RL) which is becoming increasingly important in energy systems and smart grids. A promising application is Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, where electric vehicles support the grid as distributed energy storage. Another example is to control and steer mobility systems remotely from afar (road, sea, air and space). Complex remote-controlled systems are especially interesting from a human-centric design perspective. And thirdly, technology and people are tied together by purpose and value aspects that need to be examined under a philosophical in order to steer legislations, decisions and product choices. 

Jonas Hellgren is a researcher working at the intersection of reinforcement learning, system simulation, optimization, and electrified vehicle systems. His experience spans both academia and industry, including patents, scientific publications, and thesis supervision. He combines practical engineering insight with strong theoretical expertise.

Joshua Bronson is a senior researcher who has an academic philosophical background. His expertise in philosophy connected to pressing current issues related to new technology is a strong contributor in national and international research projects involving academia, authorities, industry, and civil society. His work is related to AI, automated transport systems, energy technologies, and system integration, and the role of new technologies in enabling sustainable transport solutions.

Victor Fabricius is a Human Factors Researcher who specializes in driver and cab monitoring, in remote controlled operations in various domains (traffic, sea, air) and in centered automated systems. He contributes with expertise in user experience, and cognitive science, with a strong focus on how people interact with increasingly advanced mobility systems. He is the co-leader of the SAFER group on Remote Controlled Operations. 


Practical Information

SAFER Thursday lunch seminars are held both at the SAFER office, Chalmers Campus Lindholmen, building Kuggen, Lindholmsplatsen 1, floor 1 or online (Teams).

  • In-person attendance: Lunch will be provided at the SAFER office, Chalmers Campus Lindholmen, starting at 11:30 AM. The seminar will then be held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM. Registration is required for lunch. Please register for lunch by 12:00 PM on the Tuesday before the seminar.
  • Online attendance: No registration is needed. Simply join via the Microsoft Teams link sent to all SAFER partners ahead of the event. The seminar is held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM.
