Inauguration Lecture - Anders Lie
Anders Lie, Swedish Transport Administration and Division of Vehicle Safety, Department of Applied Mechanics, Chalmers University of Technology, welcomes you to his inauguration lecture for adjunct professorship.
Title: Evaluations of vehicle safety systems today and tomorrow
Anders Lie has researched the field of vehicle and traffic safety since 1989. He obtained his PhD at Karolinska Institutet in 2012. Anders has worked for Folksam Research in developing methods and systems for real world evaluations of vehicle safety. From 1995 he has worked for the Swedish Transport Administration in the field of in depth studies of fatal crashes, real world evaluations of modern safety technologies and as Swedish representative in Euro NCAP, a collaboration to assess the safety level of new cars.
Anders Lie has further been a member of the team developing the Vision Zero, a systems approach to road traffic safety. Over the last years Anders Lie has put focus on the safety aspects of self-driving cars. As a representative for the Swedish Transport Administration he is active in the project Drive Me, that is looking at putting one hundred cars with self-driving capabilities on the roads in Göteborg. Drive Me is a co-operation between Volvo Cars, the City of Gothenburg, The Swedish Transport Administration, The Swedish Transport Agency and Lindholmen Science Park.
In his talk Anders will present some of his approaches to the evaluation of vehicle safety systems such as seat belt reminders and electronic stability control. The role of the systematic approach and the traffic system will be discussed. Finally there will be some reflections over how the safety of self-driving cars can be evaluated in every day traffic.
Everyone is welcome!
