Novel and inexpensive nudging measure to increase cyclist safety
Welcome to the webinar "Novel and inexpensive nudging measure to increase cyclist safety", organised by the MeBeSafe project and SAFER!
One of the traffic safety measures researched and developed by the MeBeSafe project is surprisingly inexpensive in relation to the increase in safety for cyclists it yields. The measure is visual and relies on the 'illusion of speed', as opposed to haptic measures which are less accepted among cyclists. The webinar will convey the application and few limitations that exist. After the webinar, you’ll be able to go outside and build the measure yourself with your own hands, a measuring stick and some road tape. The key takeaway here is that it’s so simple and inexpensive, that implementation is encouraged. Since the popularity of cycling has increased due to the recent pandemic, this is an ideal time for traffic safety solutions that can be provided without delay.
We conduct the webinar at two times this day; 12:00-13:00 (GMT+1) and at 14:00-15:00 (GMT+1); same content, two opportunities.
MeBeSafe, Measures for Behaving Safely in Traffic, has found evidence for gentle measures – like nudging and coaching - as opposed to conventional measures such as speed bumps and speeding tickets. The three-year project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No. 723430.
