SAFER lunch seminar: Analysis of the 3D H-point Machine in Relation to Diversity
Welcome to a SAFER lunch seminar hosted by Pernilla Bremer, the Swedish transport agency and Malena Makris, Chalmers University!
This pre-study, funded by SAFER, has explored how the 3D H-point machine (HPM) – a widely used reference tool based on an average adult male – influences crash safety assessments and cabin design. By analysing its role in regulatory frameworks and occupant protection, the project has examined how reliance on the HPM may affect injury risk variation across diverse user groups. The study provides a foundation for future work aiming to improve inclusivity and equity in vehicle safety design and regulation.
