Welcome to learn from Prof. Carolyn Unsworth, currently visiting professor at our partner Jönköping University! She will discuss with us Improving safety for bus passengers using wheelchairs and mobility scooters: Effectiveness of restraint and containment systems.

Prof. Carolyn Unsworth’s presentation will focus on how her team is using bus g-force data, 3D space access data, international literature and practical information (e.g. standards) and passenger experience to improve access and safety for passengers using mobility devices (such as mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs) on public transit buses. Her research is funded by the Department of Transport, Victoria.

About Professor Carolyn Unsworth, PhD, BAppSci(OccTher), GCTE, OTR, FOTARA
Professor Unsworth is Discipline Lead of Occupational Therapy at Federation University’s Institute of Health and Wellbeing.  
Professor Unsworth’s research has informed transport improvements and policy changes for people with disabilities in Australia. Her outcome measures, the Australian Therapy Outcome Measures for Occupational Therapy (AusTOMs-OT) (www.austoms.com) and driver assessment Occupational Therapy Driver Off Road Assessment (OT-DORA) are used internationally. 
Carolyn holds Adjunct Professorial appointments at Monash, and James Cook University in Australia, and Jönköping University in Sweden, and in 2017 was inducted as an inaugural Fellow of the Occupational Therapy of Australia Research Academy. She has authored more than 160 journal articles and book chapters and made 150 conference and keynote presentations. She currently serves as an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Occupational Therapy.
