SAFER Seminar: Dynamic Field Theory as a framework for understanding embodied cognition and a basis for human factors modeling
Working closely with experimental psychologists and neuroscientists, he has has developed theoretical concepts and models to understand multi-degree of freedom systems, the preparation of movement and its representation in neuronal populations, the development of motor decision making, as well as simple forms of cognition like metric working memory, change detection, or sequential action. These theoretical principles are also used to embody simple cognitive systems in autonomous robots that range from low-level vehicles to high-level assistance robots that interact with human users. Applications flowing from this work include driver assistance systems and driver modelling.
