SAFER invites you to a seminar by Dr. Joseph Kanianthra:

Enhancing Safety:
The Role of Advanced Technologies in Future Safety

Dr. Kanianthra will discuss the safety trends in the United States and the strategies implemented over the last forty years; what has that accomplished and why the continuation of those strategies is likely to fall short in achieving significant reduction in fatalities and injuries; and the role of advanced technologies for the future and the new strategies that need to be implemented.

Dr. Kanianthra retired from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in August 2008 after 32 years of Service. As a Senior Executive, he was the Senior Technical Advisor and an Associate Administrator for the Office of Vehicle Safety Research. He directed all of vehicle safety research related to crashworthiness, crash avoidance, driver-vehicle performance, tire research, driver distraction research and intelligent technologies research programs in the agency for over twenty years.
He is now the President of Active Safety Engineering LLC, a company set up specifically for providing automobile safety consulting services to the industry and safety community.

Dr. Kanianthra is visiting SAFER December 14-17th and will as one of the activities give this open seminar. He is newly appointed as chairman in the International Scientific Advisory Board of SAFER. Dr. Kanianthra will also participate in the panel discussions at Chalmers Transport Conference Dec 16th.
