Automated speed enforcement has been one of the most successful road safety measures in Sweden, contributing to lower speeds and fewer fatalities and serious injuries. In this seminar, Per Hurtig, Road Safety Investigation Leader at the Swedish Transport Administration, will present the next generation of Automated Traffic Safety Control (ATK) cameras and their role in future road safety work.

The seminar will provide insights into the new technology now being introduced, including its capabilities, implementation, and expected contribution to safer roads. Beyond the technical aspects, the discussion will address the role of speed management in the Safe System approach and how automated enforcement can support compliance with speed limits and reduce crash risks.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how one of Sweden's most important road safety interventions continues to evolve and what opportunities and challenges lie ahead for automated traffic safety control.

Practical Information

SAFER Thursday lunch seminars are held both at the SAFER office, Lindholmen, building Kuggen, Lindholmsplatsen 1, floor 1 or online (Teams).

• In-person attendance: Lunch will be provided at the SAFER office, Lindholmen Innovation District, starting at 11:30 AM. The seminar will then be held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM. Registration is required for lunch. Please register for lunch by 12:00 PM on the Tuesday before the seminar.
• Online attendance: No registration is needed. Simply join via the Microsoft Teams link sent to all SAFER partners ahead of the event. The seminar is held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM.
