Welcome to a SAFER Thursday lunch seminar! This week our host is Fredrik Sandblom, competence network leader for AD safety assurance at SAFER. Fredrik will guide us through TS5083, a technical specification with the scope to provide guidance of the steps for developing and validating safe automated driving features.

May 19th is the planned date for distributing the committee draft (CD) of TS 5083; a technical specification with the scope to provide guidance of the steps for developing and validating safe automated driving features. Fredrik is one of the Swedish national experts who have contributed to the development, and he will give an objectives-centric overview of the TS with the purpose to provide some explanation to how it can be used. A second objective with the presentation is to inspire engagement in the CD ballot, for which the deadline for comments is July 13:th (according to current schedule, may be subject to change).

Since the draft at this stage is a working party internal document, focus will not be on the details and phrases but rather on the big picture and intended usage.

Fredrik Sandblom is working as a technical specialist and systems architect at Zenseact and is leading the competence network for AD safety assurance at SAFER. His background is in sensor data fusion and decision-making under uncertainty, but he turned his attention towards automated driving because the task to meet, and prove that an automated driving system meets, traffic safety targets on-par with human ability is a very interesting and important problem.
