Project VIRTUAL
Speaker: Astrid Linder, VTI
In this presentation the aim and main results of project VIRTUAL is described. The objective of VIRTUAL is to improve the road user safety assessment by foster the uptake of virtual testing of crash safety, as a complement to physical testing. VIRTUAL provides tools such as finite element models of the human body for crash safety assessment and a corresponding platform. This is share this with the world by providing it open source. Open science contributions from VIRTUAL are, among others, the OpenVT platform, the seated and standing average female and male model (the VIVA+ 50F and 50M as vehicle occupants, pedestrians, cyclists and standing occupants in public transport), the integrated assessment chain, physical Seat Evaluation Tools (SET), cost benefit analysis tool and more found at: https://openvt.eu/users/sign_in.
