For future automotive safety applications, exterior sensors are increasingly important. Typical examples are radar sensors and camera systems used in vehicles. To fulfil the objectives of automotive safety systems, information from more than a single sensor will be integrated. Thus, technologies to fuse information and measurements from different sensors are investigated both within the Swedish SEFS project and in the European ProFusion2 initiative.

This seminar will give an overview of area of automotive sensor data fusion and the findings of both research projects.

Speakers

Magnus Rilbe, M.Sc., Manager Intelligent Vehicle Technologies R&D group at Volvo Technology

Malte Ahrholdt is with Volvo Technology and coordinates the Swedish research initiative SEFS on sensor data fusion for automotive safety applications. He received a Ph.D.degree in 2005 from the Hamburg University of Technology in the area of sensor signal processing.

Thomas Schön holds a post-doc position at Linköpings University, researching on sensor data fusion algorithms.  He received a Ph.D. from Linköpings University in 2006 in Control Engineering from the Division of Automatic Control, Linköping University.

Lars Danielsson and Fredrik Bengtsson are industrial Ph.D. students within the SEFS project. They are with Volvo Car Corporation and Volvo 3P, respectively.

Su-Birm Park is with Delphi Electronics & Safety in Wuppertal, Germany. He is the coordinator of the IP PReVENT sub-project ProFusion2, a European research initiative on automotive sensor data fusion. Su-Birm Park received a Ph.D. degree in 2000 from the University of Duisburg.
