WELCOME TO OUR ONLINE LUNCH SEMINAR!

The online seminar week 14 features very interesting topics. Bengt-Arne Sjöqvist, Chalmers and Hanna Maurin Söderholm, Lindholmen Science Park, will give updates from PICTA (The Prehospital ICT Arena) and Erik Ström from Chalmers will present results from the Chase and ChaseOn projects.

Hanna och BAS
Hanna Maurin and Bengt Arne Sjöqvist will present the post-crash research at SAFER/PICTA.

How to save lives after an accident – ongoing research with PICTA
Speakers: Bengt-Arne Sjöqvist, Ph.D., Assoc. Professor, Professor of Practice emeritus in Digital Health, Chalmers University of Technology & Hanna Maurin Söderholm, Program Manager for PICTA, Lindholmen Science Park AB

Many lives can be saved with effective and accurate care right after an accident. Aids for the correct diagnosis and information about the accident type are therefore critical in order to take the best possible decisions. Together with PICTA, SAFER conducts research and collaboration projects in the area.

The Prehospital ICT Arena (PICTA) arena is run by Lindholmen Science Park in cooperation with some 30 organizations in healthcare services, industry and academy. The aim is to remove the obstacles that prevent IT and eHealth from being utilized and developed to their full potential in, for example, ambulance medical care. In the recently started project TEAPaN (Traffic Event Assessment, Prioritizing and Notification), a project originated from SAFER, the objective is to improve traffic safety for everyone in the event of an accident or sudden illness by means of early identification and more accurate assessment, prioritization and deployment. This necessitates the establishment of fundamental conditions for collaboration between the public sector, private sector and individuals, e.g. in an open interface and permanent connection to alarm and deployment resources. With connected vehicles and traffic environments, vehicles and traffic participants can generate incident alarms, wherein information is sent to TEAPaN Services for analysis and evaluation with the assistance of decision-making support, etc. and where results and documentation are shared with alarm and emergency vehicle operators for the correct prioritization and administration.

Bengt-Arne Sjöqvist, Ph.D., Assoc. Professor, Professor of Practice emeritus in Digital Health, and Hanna Maurin, Program Manager for PICTA, will present more about PICTA and give some in-depth examples of projects, including TEAPaN.

Erik Ström will present the latest within his research area; communication systems

Timely V2X Communication and the Importance of Antennas
Speaker: Erik Ström, Professor in Communication Systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Chalmers University of Technology

Vehicular-to-anything (V2X) communication for traffic safety and traffic efficiency applications is often referred to as a use case for ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLCC). In this talk, we will explore two ways of measuring delay, namely latency and age-of-information (AoI), and explain how reliability can be defined from these metrics. The metrics are complementary in the sense that latency is more suited for sporadic, event-driven data traffic and AoI is more suited for dense, time-triggered data traffic. We will in this talk concentrate on transmission of Cooperative Awareness Messages (CAMs), which is time-triggered data traffic, and show how we can devise a very simple analog combining network to improve robustness against unfavorable propagation environments. The results have been produced partly in the Chase and ChaseOn projects.

Register below no later than 12.00 on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Please note that this event requires a special invitation. Not all super heros wear capes, but all cancel their booking if they change plans.
