SAFER, Lindholmen Science Park, Lindholmspiren 3A and online (Teams)

You are warmly invited to our upcoming “open for all” meeting with SAFER’s Working Group on Long-term Impairment from Traffic Injuries.

We are pleased to welcome guest speaker Jason Forman from the University of Virginia, who will join us online to share insights on upper extremity injuries among vehicle occupants in the U.S.

In addition, Working Group members Anders Kullgren (Folksam) and Katarina Bohman (Volvo Cars) will broaden the perspective with data on arm injuries from Sweden, and discuss the interaction between arms and side airbags.

There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion - we look forward to your participation!

Upper extremity injuries in vehicle occupants in the U.S.
Upper extremity injuries remain one of the most common types of AIS2+ injuries for vehicle occupants, and carry a substantial risk of long-term physical impairment. In this presentation we will examine upper extremity injury types in vehicle occupants in the U.S. fleet (using data from CISS 2017-2022), and the distributions of occupant types and collision types in which those injuries occur.

13:35    Anders Kullgren, Folksam

Arm injuries in insurance data (Folksam data including disability)

13:55    Katarina Boman, Volvo Cars

Can we measure arm/side airbag interaction?

14:10    Coffee break
14:25    Questions & discussion
14:55    Summary & outlook
15:00    End

Warm welcome!
