Welcome to a SAFER Thursday lunch seminar: Will Safe System approach be the game changer for Africa?
On this seminar Aliaksei Laureshyn, senior lecturer at Lund University will present Will Safe System approach be the game changer for Africa?
Visiting Africa, you have ten to twenty times higher risk to be killed in traffic compared to Sweden. The scale of the problem is acknowledged by people and governments, but it does not look like much is being done about it. The limited resources are spent on projects with doubtful effectiveness, and the ruling attitude is that ‘it’s all people’s fault since they do not behave in traffic’. Horizon Europe project AfroSAFE (www.afrosafe-eu.africa) attempts to promote Safe System as a potential game changer for the African continent. While much has to be done to truly implement Safe System in an African country, the time and resources are always limited. Therefore, we specifically look for low-hanging fruits that could be easily implemented and will create a positive change momentum. Another important contribution is the capacity building of local professionals done through organization of the Centre of Excellence in traffic safety.
The networking lunch is served between 11.30-12.00, and the seminar starts at 12.00.
Welcome to get to learn about the insights and an inspiring dialogue!
