Feb, 07 2017

The Region of Västra Götaland has decided to support SAFER’s activities by 7.5 million SEK, over a three year period. The contribution is essential to enable SAFER to serve as a hub for world leading traffic safety research with numerous partners in industry, academia and other institutions. Automated vehicles, sustainable cities and vulnerable road users are three important research areas that are addressed.

- The news is very encouraging, says Anna Nilsson-Ehle, Director of SAFER. The transition to a sustainable transport system is now faster than ever and SAFER's role as a research center and driver in traffic safety will help to keep up a high pace in the development.

SAFER has also recently received funding from VINNOVA to work with the forming of road safety research and innovation at European level in the Horizon 2020 and the future framework programs. The grant is 1 million SEK over two years.
