SAFER's new director Magnus Granström starts today

Aug, 14 2017

A new chapter in SAFER's history starts today when Magnus Granström takes over the helm. We have met with Magnus Granström for a short first interview.

Welcome Magnus, we are happy to have you here!

What do you find most exciting about SAFER so far? That the centre has managed to develop a strong position both nationally and internationally in i wide range of aspects, not only the vehicles themselves but also behavioural and city planning.

Descibe yourself with three words! Curious, dependable, cooperative.

Have you been into a traffic accident/incident? Describe! Last spring I was driving northbound on E6 a busy afternoon with a lot of traffic and rapidly changing speeds. When braking to keep the distance to the car in front of me that slowed down rapidly, I noticed in the rear view mirror that the car approaching hadn’t noticed the slowdown, but approached very quickly so I prepared myself for the impact. As I had enough distance in front I could let go of the brakes a bit to make the impact less severe, but not enough to avoid being hit from behind ...

What is safe mobility for you? That everyone moving around on our streets and roads should be able to do that without risking to be injured or killed

Five final questions….

Cats or dogs? Dogs
Forest walk or beach walk? Forest, I think.
Bike or bus? Bike
Autonomous drive or manual drive? Depends ...
What does your perfect Sunday look like? A long walk with the dog, time to prepare some nice food and hopefully enjoying it in good company, time to catch up on some reading or a good movie.

Thank you Magnus, we look forward to follow you and learn more how you would like to furher develop the research centre.
