SAFER's director Magnus Granström comments on the news as follows:
`We at SAFER are pleased about the news that there will be a summit on self-driving vehicles in Gothenburg in the spring. The self-driving vehicles are an important aspect of road safety, and the Gothenburg region, with its overall competence, is very advanced in a Europe perspective´.

It is the new Swedish infrastructure minister, Tomas Eneroth, who invited his EU ministerial colleges to the summit. Tomas Eneroth says to TT:
'One of the reasons for choosing the West Coast is that Lindholmen Science Park together with Volvo Car Corpoation and Chalmers is running a project to have 100 self-driving cars on Gothenburg streets at the end of 2017´.

The preliminary date for the conference is June 18-19.
