Robustness Testing of AUTOSAR Software Components

The increasing complexity of software in modern automotives is currently leading to a greater interest in robustness testing of software components. Furthermore, the introduction of industry standards within functional safety, such as ISO 26262, raises the need for methods suitable for software testing within the latest frameworks. In this master's thesis an automatic tool for robustness testing of AUTOSAR software components (SW-C) is presented. By using the interface specication delivered with every SW-C the tool executes a robustness testing campaign based on the data types of each port of the interface. As an interface specication is attached to every SW-C, both white-box and black-box components can be tested. A wrapper surounding the SW-C under test injects input selected from a library consisting of carefully selected values. The tool demonstrate that data-type based robustness testing is a highly suitable method for future software development in the AUTOSAR standard.
