CLOUDIA will develop methods for efficient search of events in large data volumes

Feb, 18 2022

We are pleased to present that we have a new project in the portfolio, which will aim to make product development more efficient by exploring a method that helps researchers to more easily find specific events in large amounts of data. The method for defining events will be made publicly available so that other actors can benefit from using it.

Finding specific events in data is demanding
Searching for specific events in large amounts of data is very useful for vehicle manufacturers and system suppliers, as well as for insurance companies and for traffic and community planners The overall purpose with the project is to develop and demonstrate methods for defining specific events and make these efficiently searchable in large amounts of high-resolution data that is being collected from a large number of connected vehicles.

Specific events in real time
The new search features will also allow developers to "subscribe" to specific events in real time. The researcher’s objectives are to develop methods and techniques for defining complex events and implement a research platform in five test vehicles. Also, a cloud service for advanced search for interesting events will be integrated. Finally the search function for analysis of specific events focusing on preparatory behavior and the use of ADAS will be demonstrated. Furthermore. the project team will establish scalability of the system and the aim is to be able to handle 1000 – 100,000 vehicles simultaneously.

The new SAFER associated project will be hosted by the reference group for Systems for accident prevention and automated driving. The project ends in October 2024 and Veoneer, Folksam and Pionate are collaborating in this project. The project is funded by Vinnova/FFI and the total budget is 4080 ksek.
