Congratulations Emma Nilsson – a new SAFER Doctor

Emma Nilsson, Volvo Cars and affiliated to Vehicle Safety at Chalmers University successfully defended her doctoral thesis “Effects of cognitive tasks on car drivers’ behaviors and physiological responses”, today, September 30. 

The aim of this thesis has been to improve our understanding of how car drivers are affected by activities which take their mind, but not their eyes, off the road, such as talking on the phone and using voice control.

Jonas Bärgman, Chalmers University and Mikael Aust, Volvo Cars have been Emma’s main supervisors and at the exam the opponent was prof. Dick de Waard, Department of Clinical & Developmental Neuropsychology, University of Groningen and the examinator was Prof. Marco Dozza, Chalmers University.
