IAVSD 2019 arranged in Gothenburg by SAFER’s competence area Vehicle dynamics

Oct, 05 2017

We are happy to announce that SAFER’s competence area Vehicle dynamics has been honoured to arrange the 26th IAVSD International Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks.

The conference is the official symposium of the International Association for Vehicle System Dynamics (IAVSD) and is scheduled to August 12-16, 2019. Everyone from research and design engineering, academy and the industry interested in this field are welcome to attend.

SAFER’s Competence area leader for Vehicle Dynamics Bengt Jacobson comment on the news:

“We are proud that we have been chosen as organizers for the event. The fact that we have become chosen is an excellent proof point that we in the region have leading researchers in the field, interesting world-leading automotive companies and also a unique commitment and competence to successfully arrange events of this kind”.

According to Adj. Assoc. Prof. Matthijs Klomp, Chalmers and Volvo Cars in the organizing committee, the conference is planned to be held at Lindholmen Science Park.
“Technical sessions will be performed at e.g. AstaZero and at vehicle companies. Also visits to driving simulators and study tours are planned. I do looking forward to this conference, it will be a great opportunity for the SAFER community”, Matthijs says.

The event is held every second year at selected locations around the world. In 2017 the event was held in Rockhampton, Australia. Around 300 delegates are expected to participate in the conference. IAVSD aims to operate at the highest possible scientific and technical level.

The main objectives of the association are to promote the development of the science of vehicle dynamics to inform scientists and engineers on the current state-of-the-art in this field. Also, to broaden contacts among persons and organisations of different countries engaged in scientific research and development in the field is important.
Swedish members in the Scientific Committee are Annika Stensson Trigell and Mats Berg from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. From Chalmers University of Technology Jens Nielsen and Mathias Lidberg are represented.
