New competence network starting up: Perception, sensing and communication

Oct, 06 2020

Welcome to join our new SAFER competence network focusing on technologies and methods related to perceiving and understanding the traffic situation around our smart vehicles!

Lars Hammarstrand, Associate Professor  at the Signal Processing Group, Electrical Engineering at Chalmers University will lead the new network. Possible topics that the network will address are novel sensor fusion algorithms and machine learning approaches for object detection and tracking, new exciting sensor technologies, robust self-localization methods and enabling communication technologies, etc. The list could be made long and it will be up to the interests of the network to define what specifically will be covered during our meetings.

We believe that many SAFER partners have a need and would greatly benefit from keeping track of what is happening in this field. The purpose of this network would thus be to help each other by, for example,
• sharing news, exciting new research and joint challenges that need to be addressed.
• keeping track of open calls and facilitating the forming of joint research projects.
• inviting external experts and spreading information about interesting talks.
• helping each other keep track of the research-frontier by reading and presenting interesting research papers.

In sum, we hope that many of you will see the benefit of sharing your expertise in this network and getting experience of your fellow colleagues in return.

The above list should be seen as a starting point but the network will be defined by the interest and needs of the network. The kick-off meeting is scheduled to October 20, 10:30-12:00.The main purpose of the kick-off will be to jointly define the goals and needs of the network as well as the particulars. Welcome!

Please contact Malin Levin (malin.levin@chalmers.se) if you would like to join the network.

Please note that the network is for SAFER partners only!
