SAFER Annual Report 2025 is now published

Mar, 24 2026

The SAFER Annual Report for 2025 has just been released, capturing a year of strong collaboration, growing partnerships and new momentum for road safety research.

For the first time, the SAFER platform brought together more than 50 partner organisations and an active network of around 750 experts from academia, industry and the public sector, working together to turn shared challenges into research, projects and real-world solutions.

Several highlights from the year include:

  • 10 new partners joined the platform, strengthening the multidisciplinary community.
  • 72 co-creation and knowledge-sharing activities were carried out across the SAFER community.
  • 11 Working Groups continued to develop ideas, collaborations and new research directions.
  • 39 new partner projects were added to the portfolio, expanding the knowledge base for safer mobility.
  • The SAFER Idea Exploration Program continued to grow, supporting close to 50 early-stage research initiatives to help partners develop new project ideas together.

A milestone during the year was also the launch of Sveriges Trafiksäkerhetsdagar, a new national meeting place for road safety that gathered more than 300 participants from municipalities, authorities, industry, NGOs and academia to shape the future road safety agenda together.

In their message in the report, SAFER’s operational team emphasises that the platform exists to convene, connect and facilitate collaboration, helping partners transform shared challenges into joint initiatives, research and practical solutions that can ultimately prevent injuries and save lives.

The report offers a snapshot of what the SAFER community made possible together during the year – and it also marks an important step forward as the platform continues to evolve and grow.

A big thank you to all partners who contribute with ideas, expertise and collaboration. Together we continue building knowledge for safer mobility.
