SAFER to co-host the 9th Scandinavian Conference on System and Software Safety in 2021

Nov, 25 2020

We are pleased to announce that SAFER will co-host the 9th Scandinavian Conference on System and Software Safety (SCSSS) next year.

The conference brings together leading practitioners and researchers to discuss and share the latest knowledge in system and software safety in electronic systems. Functional safety is a central theme in the conference - an important topic also for SAFER Vehicle and Traffic Safety Centre at Chalmers.

Magnus Granström, SAFER’s director, says:
“Functional safety is crucial for automation to become the traffic safety-improving and quality-of-life-enhancing function that we are aiming for. Being able to prove that the self-driving vehicles of the future are reliable is a prerequisite. This is a core area in our project portfolio, and we hope to see even more integration of functional safety in our future research”.

Knowledge and networking at Lindholmen in Gothenburg
The conference will take place at Lindholmen Science Park in Gothenburg on 23-24 November 2021. The Gothenburg region is the natural place to discuss future transport systems and functional safety. Many world-leading companies in the automotive industry are based here and there is a lot of knowledge and experience to share with the conference guests. To name a few examples Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, Veoneer, Zenseact and RISE are located in Gothenburg. In SAFER’s network there are another 30 partners that can contribute with knowledge sharing and participate in the dialogue.

Various domains to share experiences
The conference is organized by KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Addalot and KTH Innovative Centre for Embedded Systems (ICES) and has become the central meeting place for Scandinavian safety experts from different industries. It is an opportunity to share experiences and make new contacts. There will be a plenary overview part split on two days, and a second part with parallel sessions. The parallel sessions will be in depth workshops and tutorials about different challenges, techniques, standards and methods. The second part includes parallel sessions with in-depth workshops and tutorials about different challenges, techniques, standards and methods.

“We are very pleased to be a partner in the conference next year. We look forward to plan for the conference and participate in this dialogue. We would like to invite and learn from other domains and our joint expertise will lead the knowledge and research forward”, concludes Magnus.
