Feb, 19 2020

More than 150 UN delegates from about 40 countries participated in SAFER’s event Borderless research to save lives – a dinner event on how Vision Zero can be addressed by collaboration - February 18. The event was listed as a pre-event in the conference program to the global ministerial conference, aiming to add additional value and knowledge to the guests.

The event started off with a number of inspirational lecturers from the academy, industry and research institutes as well as the European commission who talked about how to successfully collaborate in partnership and why it is more efficient to work in together towards a common vision. Thereafter, the guests were invited to a walking networking dinner at an exhibition where SAFER's joint research was presented, focusing on the collaborative elements that contributed to the projects’ success.

“The purpose was not only to position our world leading research, but also to present how we manage to perform collaboration and work in strong partnerships in practice”, Malin Levin, project manager for the event, says.

The event also aimed to support the UN Global Sustainable Development Goals, Sweden and the Vision Zero strategy to be truly global. In the exhibition, guests were able to talk to our experts in our various research areas and seek knowledge about how to successfully work with knowledge dissemination, for example through projects such as CTS (China Sweden Research Centre for Traffic Safety) and SaferAfrica. The station for discussing future policies, legislation and regulations was also well-attended by the guests.

Magnus Granström, SAFER’s director, comments on the activity:
“It was a very successful event, there was a great interest in our research and our knowledge is of value to both politicians and those who are actually working with implementation of traffic safety enhancing solutions in various parts of the world”.
