SAFER’s jalp! is being developed further at Chalmers Venture

Nov, 22 2017

The invention jalp!, developed to save lives of cyclists and originated from SAFER, is now further developed at Chalmers Ventures Entrepreneurship School.

When an accident occur, it is important to get help quickly. If you as an unprotected road user, for example on a bicycle, happen to be in an accident you may be unable to call for help yourself and it may be delayed before you are discovered in a solitary place.

A smart app can save lives
A smartphone app developed within SAFER - jalp! can shorten the time it takes until the injured person can be given care and thus save lives and reduce injuries. This means increased safety for you as an unprotected road user and your relatives.

Jalp! can be downloaded to the smartphone and uses built-in sensors to collect data on how the bike is moving. If an accident occurs, the sensors will detect this and start to vibrate and send out an audible signal. Then the cyclist has thirty seconds to turn off the alarm, if the accident was not serious. If the alarm is not turned off, a SMS is sent to the pre-selected emergency contacts with information about where the accident occurred. SOS alarm can also be contacted.

Team Zeta develops the app for motorcycle riders
Team Zeta of Chalmers Ventures encubation program are developing jalp! further with a crash algorithm also for motorcycle riders. Jalp! will enable automatic emergency calls when an accident has occurred. This is expected to reduce the average response time for medical services to be provided by as much as 50%. It will also help locate and determine what type of treatment that is needed for the rider.
