SAFER’s Shareholders gathered at the annual meeting

Apr, 20 2018

On April 19th, it was time for the annual Shareholders’ meeting at SAFER. In principle, all members and partners were gathered to share the annual report and a presentation of the most important research achievements during the year. Two new partners were also approved at the meeting. Scania and Veoneer; welcome to the community! The meeting was also informed of four new members; Aptiv, HiMinds, Jönköping University and Smart Eye.

Board chair Karin Svensson also presented the Board’s outlook for the coming year 13. Focus will be to continue working according to the decided strategy, which has proven to work out well. The five research areas will set up new cross-functional projects and financing is on the top of the agenda. Several new project ideas are submitted to global calls, e.g. HeADstart and ARCADE within EU’s Horizon 2020 program. Also, the development of high-profile project clusters, “flagships” will evolve. SAFER’s flagships will point out where SAFER is unique and where world-class research is carried out. Right now, we are looking into two areas; Virtual Human Safety Model and Road User Capability Assessment. Still important, we are constantly working to take care of the SAFER network and the well-established partnerships that exist today, but also new collaborations. As part of year 13, we will work with 'old' partners, we will introduce the new ones and try to get even more and complementary partners to phase 5. Finally, Karin empahised that cooperation - across companies, authorities, institutes and academics - is very important in order to create a sustainable transport system in all its dimensions.

The current stage will end March 31, 2019, and the SAFER Board was given the task of drawing up a proposal for the design of a subsequent stage. Partners expressed a strong wish to continue the successful research set-up together, which was pleasing.
