SAFER's thirteenth operational year has begun

Apr, 01 2018

On April 1, SAFER began its thirteenth year of operation, leaving yet another year of successful vehicle and road safety research behind.

The understanding of SAFER’s added value and assets has become even more profound as more than 300 finalised projects show successful results and international visibility. During operational year 12, 32 projects with external funding have been added to the project portfolio, adding up to a total of 73 projects that have been ongoing during the year resulting in a positive trend in the number of projects at SAFER. SAFER partners and researchers have further strengthened the international position and the role as spider in the global web, e.g. in collection and analysis of driving data, child safety and human body models. The high momentum in year 12 continues with projects, strategic work, and events.

“My first time at SAFER has been incredibly interesting and it is gratifying to see that multidisciplinary research actually works in practice”, says Magnus Granström, SAFER’s Director since August 2017.
“The type of cross-functional cooperation we have established between the industry, society and academy is quite extraordinary, but also necessary in order to develop solutions for achieving a fully sustainable transport system, with no fatalities or seriously injured”, Magnus concludes.

SAFER's annual report will be published in mid-April, then more information about the research centre’s achievements during the last year will be available.
