Dear all SAFER friends,

As the year draws to a close, we at the SAFER operational team would like to say a warm thank you to you - our colleagues and partners - for a great collaboration during 2025. Your commitment, expertise, and willingness to share perspectives are what make SAFER the unique and neutral platform we need to move traffic safety forward.

We would like to share a few highlights from the year (there are many more!)

• Progress and results from the working groups: Our working groups have delivered impressive results and taken clear steps forward, both in concrete activities and in how we turn knowledge into a shared direction. The engagement has been strong, and it has been especially great to see several new working groups start during the year.
• Record-high interest in SAFER: In 2025, we saw record interest in being part of SAFER. We are now 52 partners (for the first time above 50) and our network includes almost 750 people. This says a lot about the power of collaboration and the need for an arena that connects research, the society and industry.
• The SAFER Idea Exploration Program continues to deliver value: The program has become a real engine for ideas and projects. We now have more than 50 projects funded through the program, which shows that the format works: fast, relevant, and partner-driven.
• Trafiksäkerhetsdagarna at SAFER – a trusted national meeting place: We were given the trust to host Trafiksäkerhetsdagarna at SAFER, and together with our partners we turned it into a vibrant meeting place for Sweden’s road safety community. Researchers, authorities, NGOs and industry met, exchanged experiences and shaped future priorities – a concrete example of how SAFER can provide a neutral, creative arena where collaboration becomes real.
• An important transformation – equal terms for all: We are in the middle of a transition where SAFER is developing into an organisation without core partners. This means everyone participates on equal terms, and a new steering group will take over the overall strategic development going forward. It is an exciting direction, and we believe it will strengthen both involvement and shared ownership.

Looking ahead to 2026, we see new opportunities, while also entering the year with a leaner budget and a move that will affect us in practical ways. Whatever the conditions, we will do our very best to continue facilitating, connecting, and creating together with you. Collaboration is where we make a difference and it is where SAFER belongs and creates value.

With that, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for everything you have contributed during 2025. We look forward to continuing to build the next step together in 2026!
