Test objects and scenarios for electric scooters will be developed in a new SAFER project

Dec, 01 2020

How can we in a suitable way conduct tests of ADAS systems to ensure that they work as intended e.g. in a collision with an E-scooter, an increasingly common means of transport in our traffic system? The purpose of this new SAFER-associated project Vulnerable Road Users - E-scooter is to take a closer look at these research questions.

The project team will develop proposals for test objects in the form of an electric scooters as well as evaluate relevant scenarios, based on the Euro NCAPs protocol. The team will also specifically look into what behaviors may be unique to the electrical scooter. Through this work, AstaZero will increase its ability to assist vehicle and sensor manufacturers with test methods and test equipment. It also creates the opportunities for AstaZero to actively contribute to Euro NCAPs' development of future protocols.
The project, which is funded by Vinnova / FFI, will be placed in SAFER's portfolio for Safety performance evaluation, will be completed in September 2021. AstaZero is leading the project and SAFER’s partners are potential result receivers and partners in the next project.
