Transportforum 2025: Highlights and insights
Transportforum 2025 brought together over 1,400 participants on January 15–16 in Linköping, featuring an extensive program of sessions and workshops. Several of SAFER’s partners contributed with presentations and discussions, reinforcing the forum’s focus on traffic safety and technological innovation. Here are some highlights:
Panel Discussion: Alcohol and drugs in traffic
Organised by NTF and SAFER, this session gathered experts from industry, academia, MHF, and law enforcement to discuss technical and legal solutions for reducing alcohol- and drug-related traffic accidents. The panel highlighted successful examples from companies proactively addressing these issues and underscored the importance of collaboration to tackle such complex challenges.
Workshop: AI for safer urban traffic
This workshop, organized by SAFER and Drive Sweden, focused on how AI can be applied to improve traffic safety in urban environments. Participants gained practical tools and insights from real-world case studies, including:
- Jönköping municipality: Demonstrated how AI can analyze conflicts at pedestrian crossings and optimize traffic flow through proactive data analysis.
- Helsingborg city: Showcased methods for digital road damage assessment using AI and real-time data from existing vehicles, saving resources and enabling preventive measures.
Key takeaways
Transportforum 2025 clearly demonstrated that technological innovation, including AI and advanced sensor technologies, holds great potential for enhancing traffic safety. The importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and the public sector was emphasized as essential to addressing future challenges.
SAFER’s active engagement over these two days highlighted its role as a leading platform for research and development in traffic safety.
