University of Michigan College of Engineering new partner in SAFER Insight

Dec, 02 2013

SAFER Insight is expanding its course offerings by welcoming Michigan Engineering and Integrative Systems + Design, as a new partner to the portal. The web portal SAFER Insight has been active for some months and has an increasingly number of visitors. "SAFER has research collaboration agreements with a number of international organizations. We are now inviting all of them to join the training portal. Our intention is to grow by including the course offerings of the SAFER partner research network", says Anna Nilsson-Ehle, director of SAFER.

The SAFER Vehicle and Traffic Safety Centre is comprised of partners from academia, institutes, industry and the authorities and has an extensive number of international collaborations. SAFER hosts SAFER Insight, a portal containing a strong portfolio of professional development activities in advanced traffic safety for university students and professionals – with the aim to reach an international audience. Ten training providers are today offering around 40 courses and seminars.

- We are welcoming Michigan Engineering to the portal. They will be the first non-European SAFER collaborative partner to join. There is a long and significant history of joint research and co-operation between our organizations. By including a new international course provider to the portal we will be able to increase the opportunities for showcasing all courses to a broader global audience, says Anna Nilsson-Ehle.

Today, courses are given by ten training providers: Chalmers University of Technology, University of Gothenburg, Halmstad University, Michigan Engineering, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Lund University, SAFER, SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden, Swerea SICOMP, and Institute of Transport Economics (TØI).

All courses are connected to some of the six specific focus topics and eleven competence areas defined by SAFER.
