Dr Lübbe, who was honored with the prestigious U.S. Government Special Awards of Appreciation, has made an exceptional research contribution to integrated protection for Vulnerable Road Users. As his research has shown, best protection is offered when both active and passive protection measures are combined. His work has advanced safety assessment programs around the world. He continues to quantify safety benefits of new technologies and to identify residual problems, combining the benefits of pre-crash and in-crash interventions to maximize protection levels on the way to Vision Zero.
