SHRP2 Safety - The role of driver performance and behavior in traffic safety

Ken Campbell, Chief Program Officer for Safety, SHRP 2 (Strategic Highway Research Program), Transportation Research Board, USA, is currently visiting SAFER.

Ken will present a general overview of the Naturalistic Driving Study (i.e. the 2500-car study) within the SHRP 2 Safety program.

Background

The central role of the SHRP2 Safety Research Plan is to address the role of driver performance and behavior in traffic safety. It will significantly improve highway safety by understanding driving behavior in a naturalistic driving study of unprecedented scale.

In the SHRP 2 Safety research area, both vehicle-based and infrastructure-based technologies will be used to gather pre-crash, crash, and exposure data. The data can then be analyzed and applied to safety countermeasures. Projects that comprise the SHRP 2 Safety Research Plan are shown in the Projects database.

The seminar is free of charge and open for all.

You are all very welcome, despite short notice!
