The lunch seminar on the 18th of December will present a collaborative project between these groups of organizations. The collaborative project resulted in LiveResponse; - a practical application for the emergency response end-user community.

The LiveResponse application provides new capabilities for the fire & rescue services and paramedics to communicate the situation at hand by the use of live video broadcasting. A key design goal in LiveResponse, has been to improve situation awareness in emergency response work targeting traffic accidents.

LiveResponse is based on the mobile broadband capabilities found in consumer-oriented mobile phones. Such capabilities provides new means to produce and consume video-based content in real-time.

Through collaboration between the Fire & Rescue Services, Paramedics and the Road authorities, emergency responders are now able to view live video from road-side traffic cameras and produce and share live mobile video. This means that emergency responders have new network-based capabilities to make sense of an accident and obtain situation awareness enroute to an accident location. LiveResponse enable new forms of collaboration between field-based response personnel and command centre operators.

The project is funded by SAFER:Chalmers, Lindholmen Science Park: Security Arena and the Viktoria Institutet. Bambuser is the industrial partner. End-user organizations actively involved in the project are the Fire and Rescue Services in Gothenburg, the Paramedic unit at Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the Road Authority region west.
