Welcome to a SAFER seminar where our visitors from University of Michigan present the activities at University of Michigan's International Center for Automotive Medicine!

Speakers:
Prof Stewart C. Wang, University of Michigan. Dr. Wang is Director of the University of Michigan Program for Injury Research and Education (UMPIRE), Founding Director for International Center for Automotive Medicine (ICAM), as well as Director of Research for Acute Care Surgery.

Active areas of research investigation include: 1) immunologic responses following burn injury, 2) gene therapy modulation of immune responses to infection, 3) mechanisms of lung injury following trauma and 4) mechanisms of motor vehicle crash injury.

Dr. Wang is also director of a training program that educates automotive engineers in the treatment and prevention of blunt trauma injury.
 
PhD Chantal Parenteau, University of Michigan. Field data analysis and biomechanics in the International Center for Automotive Medicine (ICAM) group, Department of Surgery, University of Michigan.

Dr. Parenteau finalized her PhD-thesis at Chalmers a few year ago on foot-ankle biomechanics. She is currently making a study on accident data to find out more about differences between men and women in terms of injury risk and other accident related factors.
