The advances and increased popularity of computer games in the last decade have caught the interest of many other areas, including simulation developers, public relations officers, educators and those responsible for work training.

Under the common name of Serious Games these diverse groups have collected and applied design and technical knowledge from the computer game industry to create non-entertainment applications that maintain the defining characteristics from games of engagement, collaboration over distances, and clear and measurable goals.

Staffan Björk will give an overview of Serious Games in this presentation, including its origins and the future potentials. Examples of applications will be given as well as insights of how one can adopt a mindset to apply gameplay paradigms in all types of applications.

The seminar is open to all who have an interest in societal security and the use of information technology.
