Welcome to a SAFER Thursday online seminar September 3rd at 11.30-12.30!

The online seminars are back for an exciting new season! We have many interesting topics and inspirational speakers joining us for the latter part of 2020. This first seminar will focus on two new SAFER partners, Asymptotic AI and 4S AB! They will both share with us their background, knowledge and contribution to SAFER’s research.

Asymptotic AI – Deep learning with automotive sensor data

Asymptotic AI is a cross-industry tech startup company that provides ready-to-use AI solutions to their  customers. In particular, they are specialized in sensor data management, processing and analysis for the automotive and transportation industry. With a strong background in vehicle safety, it strives for enabling AI for a reliable use in AD/ADAS systems.
In this presentation, Asymptotic AI demonstrates the use of deep learning with automotive sensor data.  Deep learning is widely used for automated perception and decision making in AD/ADAS systems. However, as a completely data driven approach it still lacks robustness and reliability. To address this issue, an approach to improve the verification and safe use of deep learning is presented.

4S AB - Sustainable System of Systems Solutions

4S AB, is an independent development partner who designs and integrates systems of systems into sustainable system solutions for first- and last-mile, ashore and at sea, based on semi / full automation and on a scientific basis. We operate in the border between business and technology via SDD - Strategic Design Domain® and ODD - Operational Design Domain.

4S AB commercializes the results of two previous research projects within SAFER / Chalmers:

  •  SEVS®, Safe Efficient Vehicle Solutions, www.sevs.se
  •  SARMITS, A Cyber Physical Safety® principle, www.cvd.se

We develop and "CE-mark" our cybernetic driver AI-stotle ®
(C-ITS & ADS Level 4), regardless of vehicle, based on ODDs and SDDs, and thus solve a continuous insurance where the driver is updated OTA (Over The Air). We do this in collaboration with insurance companies – always business driven!

4S AB handles insurance policies formally as 2nd order policies, rules, and laws for an assurance-insurance aspect. 4S AB can claim a formal base as we also handle 1st order policies, rules and laws by a new novel safety principle which is derived and proved (ensured i.e. made certain).
In this seminar we will present the plan and status of our on-going Proof–of-Concept at Vindö Marin. We aim at building the first insurable co-operative multi-modal transport and mobility solution based on semi/full automation. The concept has a holistic sustainable system of systems perspective and are therefore built upon electrical drive trains, solar energy, jute composites materials etc. The first stage of the PoC will be demonstrated physically during the autumn 2020.
4S AB co-operates and collaborates in this first stage with Vindö Marin AB, Folksam, Carmenta, Aptive but is looking forward to collaborate with several other organisations.
