Harmonized Accident Data for Research and Simulation - the IGLAD Approach

Date
15 May 2025 11:30-12:45
Place
SAFER, Lindholmen Science Park, Lindholmspiren 3A room Aldman or online (Teams)

IGLAD - the Initiative for the Global Harmonization of (in-depth) Accident Data - is the only ongoing international effort dedicated to providing a unified database of in-depth accident data collected from various countries around the world. The combined dataset from all project phases currently includes a total of 11,726 documented accidents.

In this seminar, we will take a deep dive into the IGLAD in-depth accident data - exploring its content, quality, capabilities, and limitations. We will also present ongoing research, recent publications, and current developments based on this dataset.

Since 2022, IGLAD has included the Pre-Crash Matrix (PCM), a simulation that models the moments leading up to an accident. We will demonstrate a PCM viewer and editor currently being developed within the IGLAD framework. This tool can generate PCMs using Event Data Recorder (EDR) information, such as data from the NHTSA’s Crash Investigation Sampling System (CISS), which is recoded for integration into IGLAD.

We look forward to welcoming you!
