WHY 30? - Welcome to a lunch seminar!
Welcome to a lunch seminar with our friends at Folksam, Helena Stigson and Anders Kullgren, who will present results from the project WHY30 – Sustainable Speeds for Planned Mixed Traffic Interactions.
Despite long-standing recommendations to introduce 30 km/h where vulnerable road users are present, many Swedish municipalities have been slow to act. In WHY30, Folksam together with VTI and the Swedish Transport Administration investigates what is holding implementation back—and what evidence and practical guidance municipalities need to make informed decisions. The project is funded by Skyltfonden and supports ambitions within Vision Zero.
The seminar will highlight:
- insights from interviews with municipalities on barriers and enablers for 30 km/h,
- injury and crash-pattern analyses (including road user group, age, and gender),
- actionable recommendations on why and how safer speeds can be implemented in real-world mixed-traffic urban environments.
More information about the project is available here.
