Motorcyclists remain one of the most vulnerable groups in road traffic worldwide, accounting for a substantial share of road traffic fatalities and serious injuries. In this seminar, Maria Rizzi and Johan Strandroth will present results from the SAFER connected project Safe System Principles for MC, which explores how the Safe System approach can be applied to motorcycles and other powered two-wheelers.

The project examines the requirements for creating a transport system that is safe for motorcyclists, with a focus on the combined roles of infrastructure, vehicle technology, protective equipment, and speed management. Drawing on international expertise and a global perspective, the project aims to identify evidence-based principles that can support the development of safer roads and more effective road safety policies.

The seminar will present key findings from the project and discuss their implications for future road safety strategies, including how Safe System principles can contribute to reducing fatalities and serious injuries among motorcyclists worldwide.

Practical Information

SAFER Thursday lunch seminars are held both at the SAFER office, Lindholmen Innovation District, building Kuggen, Lindholmsplatsen 1 or online (Teams).

• In-person attendance: Lunch will be provided at the SAFER office, starting at 11:30 AM. The seminar will then be held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM. Registration is required for lunch. Please register for lunch by 12:00 PM on the Tuesday before the seminar.
• Online attendance: No registration is needed. Simply join via the Microsoft Teams link sent to all SAFER partners ahead of the event. The seminar is held in a hybrid format from 12:00 to 12:45 PM.
