Second 2026 call for SAFER Idea Exploration now open!
The second SAFER Idea Exploration call of 2026 is now open, offering SAFER partners an opportunity to develop promising ideas into collaborative pre-studies with clear relevance to traffic safety.
The Idea Exploration program is designed to stimulate new projects and make use of one of SAFER's key strengths: our multidisciplinary collaboration platform. It provides an opportunity to explore an idea, bring together complementary expertise and create a stronger foundation for future research and innovation.
The call is open to all SAFER partners. The Steering Group will, however, prioritise proposals that have been discussed and promoted within one of SAFER's working groups.

Reach out to the working group most relevant to your idea to develop it further and identify potential collaboration partners. You are welcome to contact a group even if you are not currently a member. If you are unsure where your idea fits, contact the SAFER Operational Team and we will help connect you with the right people.
Important dates
- Call opens: August 2026
- Submission deadline: 8 October 2026
- Scientific review and Q&A with project leaders: 23 October, 09:00–11:30
- Decision letters: Week 45, 2026
