IAVSD Workshop on Automated Driving and Autonomous Functions on Road Vehicles
We are pleased to announce the 2014 IAVSD Workshop on Automated Driving and Autonomous Functions on Road Vehicles. This will be held on August 27-29, 2014 in the beautiful city of Gothenburg on the West coast of Sweden.
The topic of the workshop is the system dynamics of self-driven vehicles - those that with full or partial autonomy in various environments or in niche situations, such as accident avoidance.
The trend towards automated driving and autonomous functions is developing rapidly across the automotive industry, and also with high-profile demonstrations from Google and others. Most recently, Volvo Cars has announced their intention of deploying self-driving vehicles in large numbers in Gothenburg during the year 2017 - hence making Gothenburg a natural venue for the workshop!
The topics to be carefully considered are:
- Switched interaction with the driver- switching input reference modes where driver actions are reference inputs or reference input depending on road geometry/ other vehicles.
- Continuous interaction with the driver- cooperative control between automated and manual driving styles.
- Optimal motion control at extreme conditions- this also includes fuel minimization, comfort and travel duration.
- Environment sensing and ego motion tracking- having a fair idea of the road condition, traffic and risks.
- Fail-safe vehicle- where vehicle acts autonomously to find safe refuge after some event such as light impact or during medical emergency.
- Migration to driving automation- what is the match between grand purpose (eyes off road) and prerequisite technologies(infrastructure, technology and legal)
Keynote Speakers:
- Keynote Speaker 1: Johan Wedlin, Viktoria Swedish ICT.
- Keynote Speaker 2: Erik Coelingh, Volvo Cars.
- Keynote Speakers 3: Jochen Rauh, Daimler AG and Steffen Müller, Technische Universität Berlin
- Keynote Speaker 4: Tim Gordon, University of Lincoln.
