SAFER Seminar: Invited Researcher Seminar
SAFER Seminar: Invited Researcher Seminar
We welcome you all to a SAFER Seminar with Dr. Francisco López-Valdés, University of Zaragoza.
Title: In the search for a human surrogate in nearside oblique impacts
Date: Thursday June 2, 2016, 14:00.
Place: SAFER, Lindholmspiren 3, Lindholmen Science Park, Gothenburg. Room “Aldman”. Please ask the reception in the ground floor to let you in.
Host: Robert Thomson.
Description: The oblique testing procedure recently approved by NHTSA and the small overlap frontal test performed at the IIHS have the goal of protecting car occupants in a frequent and severe type of collision. In-depth crash investigation has pointed out the need of developing new countermeasures that go beyond the existing ones developed for frontal and side crashes. The design of these countermeasures requires a biofidelic surrogate capable of predicting the kinematics and potential injury sources to the human occupant exposed to oblique loading. This presentation will discuss the performance of different human surrogates (including mathematical models, and physical surrogates as the THOR dummy and three Post Mortem Human Surrogates) in nearside oblique impacts.
Welcome!
